Meet our new Executive Director Matt Wagner
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region names new Executive Director
Family Promise of Harrisburg Capital Region (FPHCR) has recently named Matthew Wagner as its new Executive Director. Wagner has more than eight years of experience working in the nonprofit sector, most recently serving as Chair of the Public Relations Committee at FPHCR and Communication and Development Manager at Maranatha-Carlisle.
In his new role as FPHCR’s Executive Director, Wagner will oversee and supervise FPHCR operations, work closely with staff members to identify areas of growth and weakness, partner with the Board to articulate and implement the vision of FPHCR, and participate in important committee work. He will also act as the face of FPHCR in the media and through partnerships and will build relationships with community partners to ensure FPHCR can continue its life-changing work.
“My career in the nonprofit world has shown me that organizations such as FPHCR, with the proper community support, are the best vehicle for making a difference in the lives of those who need it most, and I look forward to continuing FPHCR’s legacy in doing so,” Wagner said.
Wagner will also be charged with leading an expansion of the Road to Success Program at FPHCR and help more individuals enter into careers by removing barriers such as transportation and child care. This is work that former Executive Director, Angela Mountz, is particularly eager to see come to fruition, as she believes the program has the potential to positively impact the lives of countless community members in need.
“As I move into my new roles as the community liaison at FPHCR and ‘Nana,’ in my personal life, I am excited to welcome Matt as a valuable asset to the team. As the community liaison I will be working with our partner congregations as well as other social service and nonprofit agencies,” Mountz said. “From my previous experiences with Matt, I am confident that he will be excellent in the Executive Director role.”
This work that Wagner will lead with FPHCR is not only important and impactful work, but it’s also work that he is incredibly passionate about. Wagner’s first day will be Monday, July 19, and he can’t wait to get started.
“I am very excited to be a part of FPHCR’s mission of serving families who recently lost their homes. If the COVID pandemic has taught us anything, it is that every family is vulnerable to homelessness, and I am excited about working with our current community partners, and identifying new partners, who will join us in making sure every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future together,” Wagner said.
